Copper-toned light falls through heavy overcast skies, casting a warm glow on the rusted iron teeth of a mill wheel half-swallowed by brown water and tall reeds. The structure sits within the hollow shell of a roofless hammam near Minya, where crumbling stone arches frame the decay. Midsummer heat hangs visible in the shimmering air above the stagnant pool. The wheel, tilted and broken, rests against a backdrop of weathered brickwork that has surrendered to the elements. Patches of moss rest on the damp stones, while the water reflects the gray clouds above. A jagged shard of iron protrudes from the mud, marking the edge of the submerged mechanism.
