Basalt Ruins in Evening Blue Light Himachal

by Andrew Luna

Cool blue twilight washes over a scattered field of dark basalt blocks resting on black volcanic sand. To the left, weathered masonry walls draped in thick green ivy rise from the earth, their surfaces softened by decades of growth. The late spring air holds suspended dust particles that glow faintly where shafts of fading light cut through the gloom. The stones appear heavy and rough-textured against the smooth, dark ground. Ivy leaves drape in loose clusters, contrasting the rigid geometry of the broken blocks. A final beam of blue light illuminates a single crack in the masonry, revealing the rough interior stone beneath the weathered exterior.
