Copper Light in Slot Canyon Shoreline Kasbah

Deep vertical walls of eroded sandstone rise sharply from a narrow floor along the wave-cut shoreline near Kasbah. Late summer copper light pours from the sky, striking the canyon floor in broad, glowing bands that illuminate the rough, layered textures of the rock. Dramatic, heavy clouds gather above the rim, casting deep shadows that contrast with the warm illumination below. The low angle view emphasizes the towering height of the geologic formation, making the stone appear to stretch endlessly upward. Fine grains of sand scatter across the shadowed base, while the horizon light wraps around the upper edges of the cliffs, highlighting their jagged contours against the darkening sky. One shaft of light cuts through the gloom to rest on a smooth, water-worn patch of rock near the foreground.
