Caribou Stag Crossing Mud Flats at Sunset in at the edge of a reed bed in the French Riviera

Caribou Stag Crossing Mud Flats at Sunset

by Kirk Blackwell

A massive caribou stag strides across wet, grey mud flats, its dark hooves leaving deep impressions in the silt. Low, humid air hangs heavy with dust, catching the final amber rays of the setting sun. Behind the animal, a dense wall of green reeds frames the right side of the view, creating a natural border against the pale, overcast sky. The stag’s thick fur appears damp and matted, reflecting the monsoon moisture. Long shadows stretch out across the uneven ground, leading toward the reed bed. The light is soft and diffuse, eliminating harsh contrasts while highlighting the texture of the wet earth. A faint reflection of the stag’s flank shimmers in a shallow puddle near the foreground.
