Caribou Stag Crossing Snow Crust at Dawn

Pale morning light spills across a hard, granular snow crust as a caribou stag steps forward with deliberate weight. The animal's thick winter coat, a mix of tawny and charcoal, catches the low-angle sun, highlighting the texture of its fur against the white ground. Dust rises in soft, localized plumes from the impact of its hooves, suspended in the still air. Below, a glacial stream cuts through the landscape, its surface obscured by mist and low-hanging clouds that press close to the horizon. The perspective sits near the ground, showing the sheer scale of the stag's legs and the rough, icy terrain. Shadows stretch long and sharp across the snow, defining the contours of the frozen earth. One hoof breaks the crust, sending a fine spray of ice crystals into the air.
