Butterflyfish Feed on Coral at Mombasa Dawn

Pale dawn light slides across a rain-beaded metal surface, illuminating two butterflyfish as they pick at coral polyps. Raindrops rest on the dark, reflective metal, mirroring the fish's orange and white markings in distorted, jewel-like shapes. The shallow depth of field isolates the creatures against the shimmering water droplets, showing the texture of their fins and the rough surface of the coral. Soft reflections ripple across the floor, creating a dual image where the fish appear to swim through both the water and the rain-slicked metal. One droplet rests on the edge of a coral branch, catching the first light of morning.
