Heavy gray clouds press against the high glass ceiling of a restored train terminal in Guayaquil, flooding the vast space with flat, diffuse monsoon light. Inside this industrial hall, a solitary wooden boathouse stands incongruously on the polished concrete floor. The structure features weathered planks and a peaked roof, its dark timber contrasting sharply with the pale, wet-looking ground. Converging steel beams and arched window frames lead toward a distant vanishing point, showing the scale of the empty terminal. Dust motes hang suspended in the heavy, humid air, while the late-afternoon gloom creates clear suspended time within the cavernous room. at the edge is the sharp, dark shadow of the boathouse's eaves stretching across the smooth, reflective floor.
