Storm Lit Olive Grove Through Ancient Ruin Doorway in along a vine-choked corridor in South Africa

Storm Lit Olive Grove Through Ancient Ruin Doorway

by Lane Everett

Indigo twilight washes the landscape in deep blue tones as a weathered stone archway frames a grove of olive trees beyond. The rough, crumbling masonry of the ruin is draped in thick green vines that twist around the lintel and down the sides. Beyond the frame, the olive branches stand dark against the heavy, storm-lit sky, their silver-green leaves catching faint reflections from the sea haze hovering on the horizon. The ground in the foreground is paved with uneven, mossy stones that slope gently toward the vegetation. A wet sheen on the ancient stones suggests recent rain, while the distant trees appear soft and blurred by the atmospheric moisture. at the edge is the sharp, jagged edge of a broken stone pillar silhouetted against the pale, stormy glow.
