Axolotl Rim Lit at Manila Tidal Inlet

Deep shadow envelops the water surface beside a tidal inlet near Manila while a pale axolotl floats in clear liquid. A sharp rim of blue light traces the edge of the creature's feathery gills against the dark backdrop of the rainy season night. The sky above remains perfectly clear, offering no clouds to diffuse the fading light. Behind the subject, faint outlines of mangrove roots and muddy banks fade into the gloom. The water ripples gently around the still body, and translucent skin glows where the last light touches the edge. One feathered gill drifts slightly in the current.
