Astronomer Secures Observatory Dome Chain

Soft overcast light floods the concrete pad of a remote United States field station, casting no harsh shadows across the weathered metal dome. An astronomer stands before the heavy steel chain, hands gripping the cold links to fasten them tight against the approaching storm. Humid air hangs visibly in the stillness after rain, clinging to the green desert scrub in the background. The shallow depth of field blurs the distant mountains while keeping the texture of the rusted chain and the observer's focused posture sharp. Droplets of water bead on the dome's white surface, reflecting the gray sky above. The chain links rest against the dark metal hinge, securing the structure before the wind picks up.
