Astronomer Aligns Telescope Under Twilight Rain
by Sabrina Sosa
Pale grey rain falls steadily over a wet tidal survey transect in Mississauga, turning the ground into a dark, reflective surface. A lone figure stands in sharp silhouette against the fading violet sky, their posture bent forward with methodical intent. The person adjusts the small finder scope attached to a larger telescope, their hands moving with deliberate precision. Raindrops streak across the lens of the instrument, catching the last slivers of blue light before night fully claims the horizon. To the left, the metal tripod legs sink slightly into the saturated earth, anchoring the equipment against the damp wind. The silhouette creates a stark, black outline against the soft, diffused glow of the early summer twilight, highlighting the curve of the observer's back and the angular geometry of the telescope mount. one drop of water hangs from the edge of the finder scope, trembling before falling.
