Soft overcast light floods the open courtyard where collapsed stone cloisters frame a weathered wooden desk. A brass telegraph key and sounder rest on the darkened surface, their metal bodies dull against the grain. Late spring rain creates a brief sheen on the dusty floor, while water drips from the broken arches above. Moss rests on the damp base of the pillars, against the gray dust coating the equipment. The low angle emphasizes the height of the remaining walls, casting long shadows that stretch across the scattered debris. One droplet hangs from the edge of the sounder, trembling before falling into the pool of rainwater below.
