Abandoned Goa Fishing Village Ruins at Blue Hour

by Meghan Klein

Steel-blue ambient light washes over the skeletal remains of a fishing village on a rocky Goan coast. Toppled stone columns lie scattered among tall, serrated nettles that have surged through the cracks in the weathered masonry. The ground is slick with recent rain, reflecting the deep indigo of the perfectly clear night sky. Leading lines formed by the broken walls guide toward the dark horizon where the sea meets the land. The rough texture of the wet stones contrasts with the delicate, jagged leaves of the encroaching vegetation. One shard of white tile rests against a crumbling pillar, marking the edge of the reclaimed space.
