Wolves Hunting Caribou Before Sunrise in above a glacial stream near Trujillo

Wolves Hunting Caribou Before Sunrise

by Rhonda Bradley

Pale morning light strikes the horizon haze, casting a cool glow over open tundra near a glacial stream. Three wolves crouch in dry grass, their thick fur blending with the gray-brown landscape as they watch a distant caribou herd. Low fog hangs heavy across the ground, softening the edges of the terrain and obscuring the water's surface. A weathered tree branch frames the left side of the view, creating a natural window into the patient stillness of the hunt. The animals remain motionless, muscles tense beneath their winter coats, while the sky transitions from deep indigo to soft violet above the distant hills. Shadows stretch long across the frozen earth, showing the quiet intensity of the moment.
