Wild Yak by Montreal Tidal Inlet at Evening

by Jerome Parker

Thick, matted black fur covers the massive shoulders of a wild yak standing beside a concrete tidal inlet. Frost crystals coat every surface, turning the animal's coarse hair into a white-dusted texture and frosting the wet concrete edge. Distant orange town glow reflects softly on the rippling water behind the yak. The animal's head is lowered slightly, ears pinned back, eyes fixed forward with intense focus. Rain-slicked pavement glistens under the fading light. Frost rests on the yak's thick eyebrows, blurring the sharp line of its gaze against the gray evening sky. The contrast between the dark, heavy fur and the sharp white frost creates a rugged, untamed presence in the urban setting.
