Soft overcast light washes the rocky shoreline where a weathered whale oil rendering station stands near Split. Rust-stained metal vats sit atop wooden planks, their surfaces pitted by salt and time. Clear water laps gently against the base of the structure, revealing smooth stones beneath slow-moving ripples. The dry season leaves the surrounding scrubby vegetation brittle and pale against the grey sky. One metal pipe extends from the largest vat, dripping slowly onto the wet ground. The scene holds a heavy, quiet presence as the water drifts around the station's foundation.
