Flat noon light spills through a north-facing window, illuminating a photographer standing in a tiled kitchen doorway in Jijiga. Their skin carries a distinct reddish hue from volcanic heat exposure, against the cool, pale tiles lining the walls. Dark strap marks press into the shoulders and neck, evidence of heavy equipment worn for hours. The floor reflects muted, grayish tones from the monsoon season, softening the hard edges of the room. Negative space surrounds the figure, leaving them isolated against the structured interior. A faint shadow falls across the threshold where the floor tiles meet the doorframe.
