Using Rasp in Lima

Rain slicks the corrugated zinc roof of a Lima workshop, reflecting the bruised purple sky of dusk. Inside, the warm glow of a single bulb illuminates a workbench where a pair of hands grips a rasp, smoothing the edge of a wooden chair leg. Stacked ceramic plates sit nearby, their glaze catching the damp air, while a clay teapot rests on a small electric burner, steam rising to fog the nearby window pane. Outside, pigeons huddle under the eaves, indifferent to the drizzle.
