Barber in Pucallpa Workshop After Rain
by Jesus Hess
Warm golden light spills across a corrugated tin roof, highlighting droplets of rain clinging to the ridges. A street barber stands inside the open-fronted workshop, his hands steady as he inspects a small detail on a tool. The air is clear after the storm, leaving the wet earth outside dark and reflective. Beside him, a row of clippers and combs rests on a wooden counter, their metal surfaces gleaming under the late afternoon sun. The room is simple, with weathered wood walls that bear the marks of years of use. The barber wears a faded shirt, his posture relaxed yet focused. Outside, the sky is a soft blue, and the shadows stretch long across the floor. One raindrop slides down the tin edge, catching the light before falling to the ground.
