Ceramicist Checking Detail in Monsoon Workshop
by Liam Dennis
A ceramicist leans over a workbench inside a workshop with a corrugated tin roof, their face obscured by shadow while a sharp rim of evening light traces the curve of their shoulder and the edge of a clay vessel. Heavy monsoon clouds hang low, casting the interior in deep shade despite the late hour. Tools rest scattered on the rough surface beside the work: chisels, sponges, and a small bowl of water catching the faint glow. Outside, a light drizzle blurs the view of the Victoria landscape, turning the distant green into soft, dark strokes. The air appears thick with moisture, visible in the way the light hits the wet air near the open doorway. The clay surface gleams slightly, reflecting the dim ambient glow. A drop of water slides down the tin roof, landing silently in a puddle near the threshold.
