Uruguay Narrow Gauge Train Misty Switchback

Thick white mist rests on the steel rails as a narrow gauge train winds its way up a steep switchback approach in late autumn Uruguay. The open-air carriages, painted in faded red and cream, sit low against the damp, brown grass that lines the track. Overcast light diffuses across the landscape, softening the edges of the distant hills until they dissolve into the fog. Rust streaks the metal undercarriage of the lead carriage, against the pale, wet wood of the bench seats. A low angle view emphasizes the incline of the track, making the train appear to climb into the gray void. at the edge is one drop of condensation hanging from the rusted metal bracket of the rear carriage, ready to fall onto the wet ground.
