Fern Fronds in Christchurch

A cluster of vibrant green fern fronds rests on the rough, grey surface of a sandstone block in a Christchurch garden. The bright late morning sun strikes the textured leaves, creating sharp highlights along the serrated edges of the unfurling fiddleheads. Surrounding the central subject, small patches of moss and damp soil anchor the scene in the local botanic setting. One drop of morning dew rests on the tip of the lowest leaf, reflecting the pale blue sky above.
