Surreal Waterfall in Morning Mist in along a wave-cut shoreline in China

Surreal Waterfall in Morning Mist

by Harvey Tucker

Violet and grey mist clings to a peat bog along a wave-cut shoreline in China. Early morning sunrays slice through the fog, illuminating falling snow that drifts over the dark, spongy ground. A stark white stone wall rises abruptly from the wet earth. From a jagged crack in the masonry, a continuous waterfall pours downward, defying all plumbing logic. The water crashes onto the mossy surface below, creating a permanent pool of churning foam. Wind-sculpted grasses bow low near the water's edge. The impossible cascade flows with the same weight and clarity as the falling snowflakes. One ripple spreads outward from the impact point of the water against the dark peat.
