Indigo Twilight Ruins of Moorish Palace Arch in inside a roofless nave near Rosetta

Indigo Twilight Ruins of Moorish Palace Arch

by Serena Curtis

Cool indigo light washes over the crumbling stone walls of a roofless nave near Rosetta, where a surviving horseshoe arch frames the deepening night. Weathered limestone blocks show pockmarks of erosion, their surfaces damp and darkened by recent rain. Small tufts of winter grass and creeping vines push through cracks in the masonry, their muted greens soft against the grey stone. The archway creates a natural frame within the frame, revealing a sliver of the starless sky beyond. Humid air hangs heavy, visible as a slight haze clinging to the lower sections of the wall. Moss patches rest on the shadowed recesses of the arch, marking the slow reclamation of the structure by nature. One shard of broken tile rests on the wet floor near the base of the pillar.
