Bamboo Forest Light Near Salvador Rainy Season

by Saul Eaton

Tropical sunlight pierces through a dense stand of tall bamboo stalks near Salvador, casting sharp, vertical beams onto the forest floor. The stalks rise in tight clusters, their smooth green surfaces gleaming under the late morning sun. Fresh rain coats the leaves, creating a glossy texture that reflects the bright sky above. A perfectly clear blue expanse frames the tops of the plants, against the deep shadows pooling between the stems. Moss rests on the lower sections of the bamboo, softening the rigid vertical lines. The ground is covered in fallen leaves and damp soil, absorbing the light that falls through the canopy. One shadow stretches across a patch of ferns at the base of the thickest stalk.
