Stone Furniture at Tasmanian Construction Site in beside a framed building shell in Tasmania

Stone Furniture at Tasmanian Construction Site

by Victor Flynn

Copper-toned light washes over a row of temporary metal fencing panels standing beside a framed building shell in Tasmania. The dry season air holds heavy overcast clouds that diffuse the horizon glow. Behind the fencing, a wooden chair and table have partially transformed into rough stone, their original grain patterns etched deeply into the mineral surface. The transition from wood to rock is sharp and deliberate along the legs and seat edges. Dust coats the metal mesh, while the stone furniture casts soft shadows on the compacted earth. A rusted nail protrudes from the stone chair back, anchoring the impossible change to the practical urgency of the site.
