Moonlit Storm Drain Stack in Dala Yangon in along a scaffolded facade in Dala, Yangon

Moonlit Storm Drain Stack in Dala Yangon

by Axel Dean

A vertical stack of galvanized steel storm-drain filters stands rigid against a black sky devoid of stars. Low, hard sunlight strikes the horizon haze, casting sharp, high-contrast shadows across the rusted metal surfaces. Mud coats the base where damp earth meets the scaffolded facade, while sawdust and concrete dust float suspended in the airless void. Spray paint marks in red and blue streak the timber supports, against the cold silver of the chain links. The scene lacks atmosphere, showing no wind movement despite the floating dust particles. One grain of sand rests on the edge of a galvanized flange, catching the harsh light.
