Floating Masonry Saw Station Outback Twilight in on an active construction deck in the Outback

Floating Masonry Saw Station Outback Twilight

by Marlene Leach

Muted blue evening light silhouettes a masonry saw station on an active construction deck in the Australian Outback. Dust coats the metal frame and safety barriers in layers of late autumn grit. The saw blade hangs suspended in midair, detached from its motor mount, defying gravity while sparks drift upward in a slow, impossible arc. Nearby, a coil of caution tape floats horizontally, its yellow stripes stark against the darkening sky. A heavy tarp flutters violently at the edge of the frame, pulled by invisible wind currents. Concrete debris and loose bricks hover at varying heights, creating a chaotic but legible spatial arrangement. at the edge is a single, glowing ember drifting sideways against the steel railing.
