Spider Egg Sac Silk Weave in Dappled Light in near Santa Marta

Spider Egg Sac Silk Weave in Dappled Light

by Abraham Conley

Tiny, translucent silk threads form a dense, irregular mesh under the bright Santa Marta dry season sun. Water droplets rest on the fibers, refracting the dappled light filtering through overhead leaves. The weave sits low against a rough, brown leaf surface, its delicate structure highlighted by the sudden, brief shower. Beads of water scatter across the silk, some merging into larger spheres that distort the background greenery. One drop rolls slowly down a vertical strand, leaving a glistening trail before falling away. The texture of the silk contrasts sharply with the dry, brittle edges of the surrounding foliage.
