Frost Spider Web Dawn Santa Fe Monsoon in at the edge of a reed bed near Santa Fe

Frost Spider Web Dawn Santa Fe Monsoon

by Barry Russell

Tiny ice crystals coat the delicate silk strands of a spider web stretched between tall reeds at the edge of a New Mexico wetland. The first light of dawn breaks over the horizon, cutting through low haze and illuminating the frost with a pale, cool glow. A brief monsoon sun shower leaves droplets clinging to the web, refracting the soft morning light. The reeds frame the web in a natural arch, creating depth against the blurred background of wet earth and distant hills. Individual threads glisten like spun glass against the muted greens and browns of the reed bed. One droplet hangs from the lower strand, catching the light.
