Sluice Gate Winch House Amidst Cattails

Reflected light from the dam spillway washes over a weathered concrete winch house standing beside dense stands of tall cattails. The late summer air hangs heavy as brief raindrops speckle the black mud coating the embankment. Converging lines of the spillway channel lead toward a distant vanishing point where the water meets the horizon. The structure shows signs of heavy use with rusted metal fixtures and peeling paint. Rain streaks run down the gray walls, mixing with the dark, wet earth. The cattails sway slightly in the damp breeze, their brown seed heads contrasting against the pale, overcast sky. A puddle near the foundation mirrors the steel cables of the winch mechanism.
