The structure rises from black mud, its gray surfaces reflecting the humid midsummer air. Tall cattails sway in clusters along the water's edge, their green stalks against the dark, wet soil. The winch mechanism sits heavy and precise, casting a defined shadow across the damp ground. Sunlight breaks through the early morning haze, highlighting the texture of the concrete and the glossy sheen of the mud. A metal railing runs along the platform, leading toward the water where the barrier meets the reeds. at the edge is a single droplet of water clinging to the tip of a cattail leaf.
