Sleet Coated Branches in Quebec Dawn Light

by Ian Solomon

Clear ice encrusts every pine needle and twig beneath a canopy of fast-moving cloud bands. The first light of dawn falls through the mist, turning the falling snow into soft, glowing specks against the dark green foliage. A wide panoramic view reveals the heavy, transparent glaze stretching across the forest floor. The branches bow slightly under the weight of the sleet, their surfaces shimmering with a brittle, glassy texture. Gray clouds drift rapidly overhead, casting shifting shadows across the white ground cover. The scene remains still, with only the gentle descent of snowflakes visible against the frozen wood. A thin layer of ice on the nearest branch reflects the pale sky above.
