Sandhill Crane Crossing Kharkiv Mud Flats at Dusk

Cool blue twilight washes the mud flats near Kharkiv, casting long shadows across the wet, rippled surface. A sandhill crane stands in profile, its gray feathers textured against the dimming light, one leg lifted mid-stride. Behind the bird, a trail of deep, distinct tracks cuts through the soft mud, marking its path. To the left, a gnarled, leafless branch frames the crane, creating a natural border. Scattered brown leaves skitter across the ground in the foreground, caught in a sudden gust that stirs the air. The sky above holds a fading gradient of slate and violet. The crane's sharp, dark eye reflects the ambient blue, fixed on the horizon.
