Red Light Dome Slit Shows Moon in along a rocky geology outcrop near Christianshavn, Copenhagen

Red Light Dome Slit Shows Moon

by Lynn Pruitt

Deep red illumination fills the curved interior of a dark gray metal dome, highlighting the rough texture of steel ribs and a narrow vertical slit. Through this opening, a razor-thin crescent moon hangs against a pitch-black sky. Outside, jagged rocks of a geology outcrop form a dark, uneven base along the edge of the frame. Fallen autumn leaves in shades of brown and orange rest on the ground near the stone foundation. The pale silver edge of the moon cuts sharply against the darkness, centered within the narrow aperture. A small ventilation grate on the dome wall reflects the red glow beside the cold starlight beyond.
