Deep indigo twilight fills the sky above a stark white observatory dome split open at its apex. The structure stands isolated on a rugged, rocky geology outcrop in West Virginia, its smooth metal surface rendered as a sharp black silhouette against the fading light. Late autumn colors of muted browns and grays cover the uneven terrain surrounding the base. The opening reveals a sliver of the darkening sky, creating a perfect vertical line that bisects the dome's curve. Sharp edges of the rock formation jut upward, against the engineered smoothness of the telescope housing. The symmetry of the opening aligns precisely with the center of the frame, drawing attention to the mechanical precision of the slit. A faint glow lingers on the horizon, illuminating the texture of the jagged stones below.
