Red and Cream Rock Strata in Urals Drizzle in in the Urals

Red and Cream Rock Strata in Urals Drizzle

by Angelica David

Vivid bands of rust-red and creamy white layer horizontally across the exposed rock face, their colors intensified by the damp late autumn air. Thin sheets of water slide down the stone, turning the surface into a glossy mirror that reflects the overcast sky and the darkening slope above. The light is flat and diffuse, typical of a clear but drizzling afternoon in the Urals, softening the sharp edges of the geological formations. Puddles at the base of the cliff hold inverted images of the strata, creating a seamless vertical symmetry where the real rock meets its watery twin. A small patch of withered brown grass rests on the upper ledge, its stems bent low against the persistent moisture.
