Pink Dawn Light Over Snowy Floodplain in British Columbia

by Cash Soto

Pale pink hues wash the snowfields as the first light of dawn breaks over a wet British Columbia floodplain. Low-hanging clouds hang heavy above the terrain, casting a soft, diffused glow across the brief arctic summer landscape. Wind-sculpted ripples texture the white surface, while puddles from recent rain mirror the muted sky in shades of gray and rose. Mist settles in the low depressions, softening the edges where water meets ice. Darker patches of exposed earth break the white monotony near the water's edge, and shadows from distant rocks rest sharply on the snow, defining the vast, wind-carved solitude of the scene.
