Pangolin Defensive Ball Under Noon Glare

Hard coastal glare flattens the dry earth beneath a pangolin rolled into a perfect armored sphere. Overcast skies diffuse the harsh noon sun, casting soft, uniform shadows that obscure depth but highlight the texture of overlapping keratin scales. The creature sits low against the reddish soil of Pará, its head tucked deep within the protective layers. Each scale reflects a dull, matte sheen, shifting from ochre to dark brown. Fine cracks in the ground surround the ball, showing the dry season conditions. One scale edge catches a faint highlight, defining the curve of the defense.
