Predawn Ferry Ramp at Ghaziabad Canal Lock

A rhythmic sweep of artificial light cuts through the predawn darkness, illuminating the steel ramp descending into a concrete canal lock chamber. Late autumn air whips loose plastic sheeting against the weathered pilings, their surfaces slick with condensation. The ramp's metal grating reflects the moving beam, creating sharp, shifting highlights against the deep shadow of the water below. Concrete walls rise steeply on either side, textured with decades of water stains and moss. Heavy cables hang taut between the vertical piles, vibrating slightly in the wind. The light moves steadily, revealing the rough edge of the ramp where it meets the dark, still water, ending on a single rusted bolt securing the metal framework.
