Mineral Blue Pools on Travertine Terrace in Uttarakhand

Bright midmorning sunlight strikes a series of travertine terraces carved by mineral-rich water, creating a stark contrast between the pale stone and the vivid mineral-blue pools. A light drizzle falls, adding a fine, glistening sheen to the porous rock surfaces while softening the harsh coastal glare. The water in the shallow basins remains still, reflecting the overcast sky above. In the early spring, the surrounding vegetation appears muted and damp, clinging to the edges of the stone formations. Droplets gather on the uneven ridges of the travertine, waiting to slide into the turquoise depths below. The lowest pool shows a sharp, fractured reflection of the sky at its center.
