Alpine Tarns Cascading Near Tbilisi Ridge
by Eli Ayala
Hard coastal glare strikes the water surface of a chain of alpine tarns, creating sharp, white reflections that contrast with the deep turquoise of the pools. Small cascades connect the lakes, tumbling over mossy rocks in thin ribbons of white foam. Below the ridge, layered foothills stretch into the distance, their slopes covered in early spring grasses that show patches of fresh green emerging from winter brown. Low-hanging clouds drift just above the horizon, softening the distant mountain edges while the foreground remains lit by intense, unfiltered sunlight. The water in the nearest pool mirrors the pale blue sky, while the stone banks display rough, weathered textures. A thin spray rises from the smallest cascade, catching the light before vanishing into the shadow of the overhanging rock.
