Midnight Cenote Kelp Forest Rim Light

Turquoise light falls through exceptionally clear water, illuminating hanging stalactites suspended in a submerged cenote. The view comes from behind a dense forest of kelp fronds that frame the foreground, their long, dark blades swaying gently in slow-moving ripples on the surface. Deep shadows occupy the lower depths, while a sharp rim light outlines the edges of the kelp and the water's surface, creating a stark contrast against the dark background. The scene sits at midnight near the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, with the winter darkness pressing against the illuminated water column. Visible details include the translucent texture of the kelp tips and the smooth, wet surfaces of the stone formations beneath the water.
