Holy Well Coins Glinting Under Kelp in Durban

Copper-toned light falls through a dense forest of kelp fronds, illuminating a stone-walled holy well submerged in Durban waters. Thousands of coins lie scattered across the well floor, their metallic surfaces catching the warm golden hour glow. Suspended particles glitter in the water column like floating dust, creating a luminous depth around the ancient stones. The kelp sways gently, their dark green and amber fronds framing the circular opening. The water remains clear enough to reveal the rough texture of the stone surround and the varied shapes of the offerings resting below. One coin near the center reflects a sharp streak of light against the shadowed stone edge.
