Maori Meeting House Carvings Under Glass Arcades
Dark timber beams of a traditional Maori meeting house rise against a translucent glass ceiling inside a Rotorua arcade. Intricate ancestral figures carved into the gable end stand in deep relief, their faces weathered by early autumn dampness. String lights draped along the arcade ceiling cast a warm, amber glow that highlights the grain of the wood and the moisture resting on the surface. Rain-slicked glass panels above reflect the soft illumination, forming a shimmering canopy over the structure. Deep shadows pool in the recesses of the carvings while the light catches the sharp edges of the painted details.
