Bright midmorning light reflects off the churning floodwater below, illuminating a narrow steel walkway that stretches toward massive flood control gates. The path runs along a concrete levee in Munich's Englischer Garten, where early winter leaves the surrounding trees bare and the sky hangs low with gray clouds. Steel railings and heavy metal gates dominate the foreground, their surfaces wet and dark against the white foam of the rushing water. The walkway creates a strong diagonal line leading toward the distant lock mechanism. Small ripples disturb the surface of the river, while the solid concrete embankment provides a heavy, grounded base beneath the industrial structure. at the edge is the sharp, jagged edge of a steel gate slicing through the white froth of the current.
