Lock Keeper Cabin at Dawn in Bondi

First light of dawn spills across the still black water of the canal, illuminating the small lock keeper cabin standing beside the concrete edge. Massive transmission towers rise overhead, their steel lattice framing the sky in a grid of converging lines that lead toward a distant vanishing point. The dry season air appears thick and vibrating around the transformers and heavy cables strung between the towers. Warm sunrise rays strike the cabin's weathered wood and the wet stone embankment, creating sharp contrasts against the deep shadows. One reflection of the tower leg breaks the surface of the water, anchoring the scene in the quiet practicality of the infrastructure.
