Pale morning light spills across the still, black water of a canal lock in Habana Vieja, reflecting the low-hanging sky. A weathered lock keeper cabin stands at the edge, its concrete walls damp from the rainy season mist. Fine spray hovers just above the surface, catching the first rays of sunrise and creating a soft, diffused glow against the dark water. Converging lines of the lock walls guide toward a distant vanishing point, showing the structure's scale and practical grandeur. The air is thick with moisture, visible as a faint haze clinging to the gray stone and the smooth, unrippled water. One droplet slides down a rusted metal hinge on the cabin door, marking the transition from night to day.
