Cold silver light from a clear pre-dawn sky washes over a small brick lock keeper cabin nestled beside still, black water. The structure sits beneath the towering steel lattice of high-voltage transmission towers that frame the composition with strong geometric lines. Early autumn air leaves the nearby trees with sparse, yellowing leaves clinging to branches. The cabin’s red-tiled roof catches the first faint glow while the water below remains a dark, unbroken mirror reflecting the grey sky. Rust on the metal handrails contrasts with the clean, sharp angles of the steel pylons rising into the pale morning. One rusted padlock hangs on the cabin’s heavy wooden door, marking the quiet edge of the waterway.
