Jellyfish Cluster in Clear Cuban Kelp Waters

Sunlight pierces the surface of the Caribbean, filtering through exceptionally clear wet-season water to illuminate a dense aggregation of translucent jellyfish. The gelatinous bell shapes drift slowly above a kelp-fringed shelf, their thin membranes catching the midday brilliance. Layers of depth recede into the distance where faint ripples distort the light, creating a shimmering mosaic on the submerged forest floor. The water remains dry and still, allowing every delicate tentacle and floating mass to stand out against the deep blue backdrop. One shadow from a floating kelp frond falls across the pale bell of the nearest creature.
